Valentine's Day - a wonderful day to celebrate love and romance...
Originating in early Roman times and celebrating fertility festivals, Valentine's Day and romantic love became popular during the 14th century when the tradition of 'courtly love' flourished. (Doesn't that sound fantastic!). During 18th century England the day evolved into an occasion for lovers to express their feelings by presenting each other with flowers, confectionery or a greeting card, known then as a Valentine.
Still popular today, we celebrate Valentine's Day on the 14th Feb each year, with roses being the favoured gift.
This year at Enlighten Gifts, we're offering a modern take on the traditional rose and instead of a fresh flower that wilts away, we've found some gorgeous uniquely hand crafted wooden rose buds - to be enjoyed for a long, long time. (You also get the benefit of being part of recycling and restoring).
